I had a chance to make a few good contacts at Fox Television, Paramount Pictures and other
production companies because of the Exit Traveler. We sold
quite a few units to big Hollywood Stars and several production
companies even ABC Television. One production company called
me on the phone one day and described a night time scene for a sci-fi
movie. They said that in the scene space aliens would destroy a
camp. They wanted to know if our light towers could withstand
getting blown up, knocked down over and over - take after take on a move
set. I said, "Absolutely, the Phoenix Light Tower will
rise up out of the ashes and light the way for your movie."
Millions of Dollars were on the line and they trusted
me and took a chance on our product. They purchased a whole
bunch of them! PLT's were made in America by F.M.
Brick Industries maker of the Phoenix Rescue Tools. We were their
#1 distributor and for a time my company manufactured the electrical
components that controlled the tower.
It turned out that the production company was Paramount Pictures
and they used the Phoenix Light Towers in the major motion picture:
"Star Trek - First
Contact". Who knew?
Phoenix Light Towers were dependable take after
take...... The towers were used in an out door, night time encampment
scene in Montana where the launch of the first warp missile / vehicle is about to occur.
The camp quiet and at rest until the Borg arrive via time warp.
They attempt bombard and destroy the warp vehicle before it can launch
mankind in to a new era of peace and prosperity. The Borg are
trying to assimilate mankind's future.
It is at this dark moment that, Zefram
Cochrane (the main character) rises up out of the
ashes and succeeds in going faster than the light barrier - thus getting
the attention of a passing Vulcan survey ship and consequently making
"First Contact". The writers at Paramount named the launch
vehicle "The Phoenix", and even put our logo on the side. How cool
is that?
"These images are from the scenes shot on
location in Arizona and are lit with your product the Phoenix Light Tower." ~
