About Girl in the Pew
Debra and I were setting up for a gig out in Harrisburg, PA.
Happened that it was a
Lyra Project Sunday Morning with us gig at a church. Setting up is a
lot of work, the hauling, hooking up and testing of the equipment. When
our auditorium
rehearsal was over, she was just sitting there in the church pew and I was
inspired in that moment! Later that night we went to our guest home.
Good thing I had my video cam to record, because the song just came out -
pretty much as you'll hear it in the player or CD. GITP was actually
written in a packed cat pee pee laden basement near the gig site.
It really did smell in that basement, but I did not intend the sound a like
word "Pew" to mean stink in the song. We joked about that later!
Debra is singing backup vocals on this song.
Title: Girl In The Pew
Words & Music by: Rick Denzien
My girl in the pew - doesn’t know what to do
She looks so lost sometimes - Got a good pretty smile
Un-deniable style - I want to talk with her for a while
And totally leave this place behind
Lay on the deck drift the river of time
With nothing to do but think on life
Toss out my line for dinner
And I Love You – could we survive?
And I Love You – could we stay alive?
Talk all about love - Watch the skies up above
Dream of your touch many a time - In the middle of this
You’re the one who I kiss - fooling around a minute of bliss
Do ya ever think of me?
Down the street, we can go
Well I lift my eyes to see, the girl I’d love know
And totally leave this place behind
Toss out my line for dinner
And I Love You - Could we survive? backing: Is it too late
And I Love You - Can we survive?
Can we survive?
Can we survive?
Hope we survive backing: to pray?
Can we survive?
Hope we survive
Can we thrive?
My girl in the pew – finally knows what to do
We found our love in time
